At epsilon zeta, elections have a 2 minute opening statement, QnA, closed
discussion, vote, final 2 candidates (if necessary) have QnA and another
closed discussion before final vote.
Closed discussion was not done at EZ until circa 1993-94. I know it wasn't
dome when I was a full-time engineering student- up to May 1993, but it was
done in 1994 when I returned. I have no idea who started it for my chapter.
AS there are 9 offices, elections take 4-6 hours. Sometimes, pledge voting
and chapter business precede elections, which can extend a meeting up to
9 hours. When I was initiated (5/1/88) the initiation was sandwiched in
between pledge voting and officer elections. Since the pledge voting went
really fast, and officer elections were smooth and without closed discussion,
the whole meeting lasted 8 hours.
