Currently I am a working for The Coca-Cola Company as a contract employee
in the Industry and Consumer Affairs Department. I was able to
find out an definitve answer to this
question (at least from Coca-Cola's point of view).
According to Phil Mooney, the Archivist for The Coca-Cola Company,
(paraphrased) " it is extremly unlikely that any cooler would
have been in use in a college setting in 1925. Coin operated vending
machines were not invented till around 1940 and soda coolers were only
available in retail outlets." He feels this is another case of "Coke
lore" that is very popular. Now there were other soda companies out there
out the time, but it is VERY unlikely that they had any type of
dispensing contraptions in a college building.
