The Basic Answer I've seen up here is if you have to ask whether or not
it's official it's official. That of course leads to all sorts of "what
if" situations... which don't get us anywhere.
The answer is that if your behavior is going to be such that you have
to worry wether or not some event is official, then you most likely
should not be doing what you intend to do. If you want a hard and fast
rule for official/unofficial, then here it is (courtesy of the UMaine
system)
Any event is considered to be official so long is there are five people
who are brothers of Alpha Phi Omega involved. (this has been interpreted
to mean 1 active and 4 alumni).
My advice to people who are interested in Risk Management is
not to stop at putting a written statement of it together. That
basically misses the point of RMPs. The Point is to educate your
chapters members such that they are aware of the risks that they run by
doing what they do!!!! The Point of Risk Management is not to legislate
it's to educate!
If you'd like I can get you in touch with the undergraduates and
staff who have put together a day long program in this section.(as well
as the hour version)
