It worries me, too. Fortunately, APO was only founded on the Ideals Of
Scouting, and was not directly tied to BSA, Inc. Though, I suppose a
case for APO discrimination can be made as well --
As long as a member adheres to the Principles of the Fraternity, they
are a "Member for Life." Is this not the statement made by our
Fraternity? Leadership, Friendship and Service are just as subjective
as "adhering to the moral code of proper american male youth."
How are some chapters dealing with this kind of discrimination on their
own campus? Why do A-Phi-Q chapters consider itself such a distinct part
of the overall Fraternity? Why do the All-Male Chapters put up such a
fight? How many members have been ostrasized from their chapters for
being homosexual? How many chapters exist at religious based
institutions of Higher Learning, and how many members have been
ridiculed for their religious beliefs?
Isn't the primary moral requirement an adherance to Leadership,
Friendship and Service???
*trying to bring the discrimination focus back to APO and away from
Scouting. It almost seems like the pot calling the kettle black...
