i think we have touched on a lot of the important points in this
discussion, mainly those of legality and common sense.

i think we have to look at our on-campus image, which was originally
designed to be a fraternity of role-models. i feel that we are still
role models today for the most part.

when it comes to alcohol, we must use common sense. the issue is often
enough to split a chapter, and so chapter policy must be carefully made.
for many of us, we joined APO for one of the same reasons we went to
college at all, and that was to learn how to live and interact in
society. a large part of society is and always has been responsible
drinking, and so i feel it should be up to the chapter to be sure that
events involving alcohol stress the rules of drinking responsibly.

to tie this into the BSA discussion, the BSA exists to help boys develop
their character and to prepare them for life after high school. college
and APO are one road that can be taken, and so it is important to
recognize our ties to the BSA, and our mission to act responsibly.
within chapters, we must decide how to best educate brothers in social
responsibility. this will be different for different campuses and
different chapters.
