Its sad to say this, but one thing we found in looking for service
projects AND hotels...
When you make initial contact, don't say you are with alpha phi omega.
Say you are with a college service organization. Many people dont know
what APO is and therefore you are a roudy destructive frat brother that
they've had one too many of. Its not that we should be ashamed to be a
brother, on the contrary, but for the majority of the outside world,
sometimes it'll get you out of immediate denial. Its just a suggestion,
its worked for us in the past, and people have told me that they
probably wouldn't have let us do a serrvice project/stay in their hotel
had we said we were a fraternity right away. Just a thought.
