I agree with most of what you say.
However, alumni still have the purpose of guiding the organization and making
sure that it remains true. We are also the financial support. I have been
an advisor and found that my members were upset that the national still
thought of them as nonequals. My daughters should also have the right to
join APO of which I am proud I was a member.
When I (and the immediate past president of Zeta) let the fight in the 70's
regarding letting females into the fraternity, you would not believe the
volumes of (old times) male we received of essentially hate mail.
I am proud of APO and it disturbs me greatly that we still practice blatant
discrimination and that my daughter cannot join some chapters if she wishes.
I would prefer you fighting on my side
