I'm opposed to it, simply due to numbers. At an average National
convention, the Board and the alumni reps represent about 10% of the
votes, adding 50 sectional chair votes would up that percentage to about
25%. As long as they have "voice", I'm OK with it.

Why not go all the way, and give the Board and Alumni voices only. Then the Convention would be truly run by the Chapters?
