If the 1996 Convention is to be considered "AVERAGE," then Board +
Alumni Voting Reps account for almost 8%. As more chapters are
represented, Board + Alumni Voting Reps can fall as low as 5%. For the
Board + Alumni Voting Reps to account for 10%, as suggested by Brother
Finder, there could only be 320 total votes -- less than 160 chapters
out of "over 325 active chapters."

The 1996 Convention is NOT AVERAGE, but maybe it will be typical of future
Conventions. During the Fraternity's troubles of the 70's, 80's and early
ninties (when we were losing more chapters than we gained), the other votes
constituted a much larger percentage. Often the Board has outvoted many
Regions. Also, Randy needs to redo his math, as he has underestimated the
possible number of Board and alumni votes.

I would opt for, based on the sheer growth of the Fraternity over the
past decade or two, that perhaps there should be 2 Alumni Voting Reps
per Region. (At least this is going to be the amendment that I propose.)

I am an Alumnus of the University of Maryland at College Park. I am
still a Brother of the Alpha Phi Omega, as stipulated by National Bylaws
regarding post graduation membership.

As far as I can tell, this is a Fraternity that is wholly owned,
operated and maintained by the Brotherhood, as represented at the
National Convention. Not by the "Actives," "Undergraduates," the
"Board," or some other special interest faction. And I don't believe
that I am the only Brother that feels quite underrepresented...

Frustratedly,

Maybe I should go watch Logan's Run again???
