BTW - This will be my last post to APO-L on this topic. At the request
of other APO-L Brothers and the admins of the ALUMNI List, I would ask
that Brothers with comments on this and other alumni-related topics
subscribe and post their comments to the newly established ALUMNI list
(APO-ALUMNI-LIST@LISTSERV.ACSU.BUFFALO.EDU).
I thank all of my Brothers for the continued dialogue on the Role of
Alumni within Alpha Phi Omega.

Please note the first line of this section of the National Bylaws:
"Article IV. National Convention
Section 2. Voting Power
Each collegiate chapter in good standing represented at a National
Convention shall have two votes. <remainder of text omitted>"
The key here is that EACH CHAPTER REPRESENTED AT THE CONVENTION SHALL
HAVE TWO VOTES. This does, in fact, mean that if the chapter is not at
the Convention, the chapter does not get a vote.
"Represented" can be viewed as a rather ambiguous term:
* Can I use my computer with all sorts of technology to be
"represented" at the Convention?
* Can I designate another Delegate to "represent" my votes?
* Can I designate another Brother, from any other chapter, to
"represent" and vote on behalf of my chapter?
What does "representation" really mean? I think the original intent was
"in attendance at the Convention...," but the Fraternity has come a long
way in the last 3 decades.
>I would think that, if going to the convention was so important to a
>Chapter, they would find a way to send at least ONE voting delegate.
To many chapters, it is that important. However, being 'poor, starving
college students' sometimes prohibits attendance. Other chapters don't
really care - either it's a waste of time, they won't be heard, the
Rules and Regulations of the Fraternity don't fully apply to their
chapters situation... I do know that chapters that have the most
interest in Bylaws changes will be there to represent their view.
In Leadership, Friendship and Service to the Brotherhood,
