This has been proposed before, or something similar to it.  Personally, I
strongly suggest against it.  There are currently two APO=related mailing
lists, APO-L (which is for general discussion and business), and APOSOC-L,
which was created after APO-L first got popular and everyone was posting
everything from jokes, to personal whatever to the list.  While the current
arrangement of separate mailing lists for business and social discussions
has worked well, we really don't need any more lists as it would just create
more clutter and confusion that we're already getting,...

If this were an actual proposal, my vote would be a resounding, "NO!" and I
would encourage others to do the same.
