How about this compromise:
Brother Derek correctly points out that another list probably wouldn't be
necessary. Brother REV correctly points out that sometimes general announcements
make the list somewhat bulky. How about this: Rather than making a new list,
let's create a place on the APO national web page (http://www.apo.org) where
announcements can be submitted and posted to a plain text page that describes
events around the country. The vast majority of us on APO-L are also Web
Crawlers, so this involves maybe an extra 3 minutes of our time. I visit the
site every so often for a variety of reasons. The posts to the web site would be
limited to 30 or 40 words or so, with general info and a contact number or
email. It saves on mail quota, it gives people with internet connections (even
simple ones without graphics capability) a chance to see nationwide events. I
believe this adequately solves both problems.
