Hey y'all...
Coming from a larger chapter, we have found that a service hour
requirement helps to keep the number of "resume" builders to a minimum. We
have hours requirements of both our actives and pledges, as well as specific
requirements relating to what kinds of projects need to be included. For
actives, they must complete at least 15 hrs of service, including at least
one fundraising or philanthropy project. PLedges are required to do 30 hrs
of service, including a project with their big, a "rush" project (during
rush week and counts toward their total hrs) and 2 pledge projects (these
are planned, set up, and attended by pledges). The rest of our requirements
are pretty standard for our chapter, with the active requirements having
been in use for close to 7-8 yrs. Pledge requirements vary slightly from
semester to semester, but always have the same goal of introducing the
pledges to as much of the fraternity as possible. Just a few of my thoughts:)
