Several Brothers from Psi Omega, Alpha Delta Nu, and the Greater Orlando
Alumni Association have or will be spending time helping Central Florida
tornado vicitms recover from the deadly (approx. 50 dead) tornados which
struck early Monday morning. Even Brother Bill Clinton visited the area
yesterday.
YOU can help too! Given El Nino, the American Red Cross is extremely
strapped financially with disaster relief in many states: California,
New
York, Texas, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, North Carolina, and many
more places. It needs to raise MILLIONS of dollars to replenish the pot
for future
disasters and pay for current ones.
Individuals and Chapters are urged to consider fund raising for the
NATIONAL
Disaster Relief Fund or for any local ongoing disaster relief operation.
Contact
your local Red Cross office or 1-800-HELP-NOW for more information.
Be sure to specify where you want your money to go.
Brothers in or near affected areas can volunteer to help victims. The
American Red
Cross itself seems to be sufficiently staffed and may not directly need
your assistance,
but call to make sure. In Volusia County (904) 226-1400, in Seminole,
Orange, Osceola
call (407) 894-4141. Otherwise, you may just want to go to an area and
see what's
needed.
