Greetings! I just got back from a luxurious weekend retreat and read the
messages about Roll Call at Nationals. Being only a sophomore, therefore a
2nd year brother, I haven't been to Nationals yet(but I intend on being
there this year). If the Roll Calls are taking as long as I've heard in the
discussions I just read, I personally wouldn't want to sit through them.
Since there are many chapters that maybe don't care about doing a Roll Call,
and since there are some people that would like to sit through some but not
through others, I suggest this:
Separate it into either Section or Region but into time slots as
well. That way, no section(or region if that was the division) is split up.
The time slots would be divided appropriately according to the size of the
Region/Section(i.e. # of chapters). With this, if a certain brother wants
to sit through the entire thing, (s)he can, or if (s)he wants to, that
brother can leave part way. Also, partly to accomodate those chapters that
don't wish to do one(and partly for other reasons), the chapter would be
given a choice as to whether or not to do a roll call.
Now, before I'm crucified with my kidneys on a different cross than
my lungs, I understand that I have not had the luxury of experiencing
Nationals, so I don't know what it's like...thus, I might be recreating the
wheel in my suggestions, but if not, don't shoot them down because I haven't
been to the National Convention yet.

Take care and Have a Great Day!! :)
