Brothers,

I understand Dave Wallace's concern about removing all mention of the
BSA from the Purpose, but I do have to point out that from my (very)
quick glance through the proposed amendments, that while it is being
removed in some contexts, it is being retained or added in others.

For instance, the first proposed amendment in the packet Xi chapter just
received. The existing mention on the ties with the BSA is removed (as
it should be, IMO), but it is also being added at the end that we are
based on the principles of the Boy Scouts of America. The wording seems
much better than it currently is.

Granted I did not have the time to carefully dissect all the proposed
amendments (at least not yet), it does seem that this one, at least, is
not removing all mention of the BSA, but putting it in the correct
wording.

I, too, am proud being an Eagle Scout, Vigil Honor member of the Order
of the Arrow, and a Brother in APO, but these are not all the same, and
we should be careful not to give the impression that they are in any way
the same, or even related. (You don't have to be any of them to be any
of the others. They share some of the same principles, but that is
about it.) We can be proud of all our achievements, but we don't want
our pride to cloud our judgements in seeing what is best for all
concerned.

Yours in LFS,

Will Turner
Xi Chapter
