Note: This is a proposed resolution, not an amendment. What's the difference?
I have no idea, which is why I'm going to a NCPC :-)

Submitted by Peter Fagan, Sec 91 Chair, alumnus of Delta Upsilon.
Assigned to Chapter Operations Reference Committee.
PROPOSAL: That the National Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity adopt a BYOB Policy.
-----end of facts.
My read on this is that it doesn't soound all that great. First, what is
BYOB, in a legal sense? Bring Your Own Beverage, or Bring Your Own Babe,
or Break Your Own Bottles, or what? "BYOB" is too vauge for me. It should
have been spelled out.
Second, "Social Functions", according to Peter, would be "any function where
more than half the active memebrship of the chapter is present." It DOES NOT
say that it must be an APO event. If all the brothers of your chapter go to
a 3,000 person party sponsored 500 miles from your university, under this
proposal, it is a Social Function, and liable under these rules.
Also, his policy includes a number of items which irk me personally, as I
think they are too great a restriction on people, such as: Active Brothers
MUST do door duty, party monitoring, designated driving, and bar tendering;
no kegs, beer balls, or glass - cans only; no hard alcohol (ie JD); no
drinking games.
With all of the above, what is the point of drinking? So, until I get more
evidence to the contrary of my read of this policy and that goes against
the submitted rationale, I am tending to oppose this policy in its present
form.
I would love to hear all of ya'lls comments - to the list please, so we
can all benefit.
In L,F,S, (longnecks, fifths, and shots? Who has that sig?)
