--Dear Brothers, pledges, and interested parties...

Ummm...less than 20 actives equates to not being healthy? Okay,
so someone said that 15 was unhealthy. Well, let me tell you. Psi Omega
has not had more than 25 actives since I pledged in Fall 1991 and I would
like to see someone call us unhealthy! (okay, so maybe someone would,
but they don't live in Orlando.)

This past year we hosted our Sectional Conference with about
20-22 actives and this semester (now 16 actives) we're putting on Service
Week which is an entire week of service projects (Oct 24-30), one each
day (2 on Sat). And that's not all. Every weekend we've had either a fund
raiser, service project, or both, each of which as averaged at least 8-10
attendees. Plus a social/get together virtually every weekend and
APO-nites/days out once to twice a week. Not to mention all the
spontaneous outings that occur nightly. PLUS we now have nine
committees, a pledge meeting, and a Brotherhood meeting (usually 2+
hours) every week.

Okay, so several of us put in long hours doing behind-the-scenes
work. But I wouldn't say that we don't have outside lives. As Pres., I
also work, am in a Masters program, am a member of the ECE Grad. Student
Advisory Board, and am on the Academic Grade Appeals Committee. *I* have an
outside life. And I'm not the only such example from my chapter.

Psi Omega has been as low as 12 actives in the past few years.
We've struggled, of course, but we're still here, still strong, and are a
damn tight family. And I think that we're accomplishing a LOT. So to
anyone who thinks that a small chapter (<20 actives) can not be strong, I
beg to differ. To other fellow small chapters, do not despair. Even
small chapters can accomplish a lot.

This is all, of course, IMOHO.

        Shawn Hillis.
