Whoa, hold on a sec. Point of fact: the cardinal principles and
the original intent of the fraternity would not be changing. Our
fraternity would be able to still interact with the BSA, and some
chapters would even still keep their scouting advisors. But, as
petitioning groups of APO, one of the requirements was to have a
scouting advisor in order to become a chartered chapter of APO.
That means, each chapter needed to gain approval from the BSA to
become a chapter of APO. That no longer makes any sense to APO
or to the BSA, and both organizations want to change that.

and this...

As I said above, the historical ties are not changing. We would
still keep their ideals, and we would still see the BSA in our
history. As for you seeing a rift arising between our two
organizations, well, that has been happening for quite a while.
Most of the problem is, our two organizations differ a great deal
already, and some of the rules in ours conflict with rules in
theirs, and vice versa. All these amendments are doing is
severing the legal ties between the two organizations, not the
practiced ties.

I think you may need to re-evaluate these proposed amendments
further. Based on your above statements, I think you read just a
little too much into them.

Just my $0.02 worth!
