Unfortunately Ian i do not agree, I am a strong believer in term limits for the
main reason if someone is in office for an extended period of time that leader h
as the potental and the power to begin running things in more of a dictatorship,
or n political machine verses a newer officer. For the issues you brought up I
feel it is the officers duty to train a successor or several successors, ie mem
bers on the staff, for positions. Especially in our brotherhood i feel term lim
its are necessary because the staff has to be able to keep in touch with the act
ive members of Alpha Phi Omega, which a large portion of are undergraduate membe
rs. And within small chapters i think it is the PResident s job to train a succ
essor. For example my chapter just received our chartering last year, thus we a
re a relatively small chapter, and our past president didnt run this semester to
ensure he would be here to help the new president run this chapter.
In my opinion term limits are necessary to gaurantee that our leaders are acurat
ely representing (thus in touch with the new generations of members in APO), our
fraternity.
