hmmmmm... I'm sure we have all wondered this from time to time. I also
suspect there is no clear answer at this point, but I'm sure something can
be proposed. I've noticed with other Listservs that I have subscribed to
that there is a list of guidelines for posting... I don't seem to have
anything on file with APO-L of that sort. Do we have any?

I have yet to see anything on APO-L that has really infuriated me. The
only post that irk me even slightly are those in which someone has repeated
their opinion (nearly exactly) on issue for the third, fouth, fifth, etc.
We see this a lot when when we are tackling gender issues in APO.

I would like to implore people to make their subject titles relevant to the
topic they are addressing. That way, if the title is irrelevant (IMHO),
then I wouldn't bother reading. By the way, I seem to share the world view
that all is relevant but I exercise restrain when posting.

To get the ball rolling:

What is appropriate? Opinion on legislation or policy (BSA, toast song,
and more). Discussion of what is happening with a particular chapter in
regard to activities and members AS it relaties to Alpha Phi Omega.
Announcements/invitation of big Alpha Phi Omega events...

What is inappropriate? Discussion of the tax exempt info (list owner
scolded one for briging this up, although that person did get lots of good
information on back channel), open flames (let's show some courtesy
please), turtle discussion (wah), irrelevant jokes (ex. how do you find a
blind man in a nudist colony?), and anything that you can not in some sense
relate to Alpha Phi Omega...

Is this a good start?
Feel free to take the ball in go...

In closing, we really should clear up this issue or I'm afraid there will
be a lot of people spending extraordinary amounts of time writing letter of
discontent regarding notes that takes little time to delete.

In all seriousness though, it really isn't a problem now so let's be
pro-active and fix it before it is.

Or.......????
chicken in a bucket

Take Care,
Liston
