As an Eagle Scout, OA Vigil Honor member, and very active Scouter, I just
want to say that the proposed amendments regarding the BSA seem to be
very appropriate and well written. I congratulate Gerry on writing them
in such a way as to keep the history in tack through additions, but
removing the root of the mythical connection. I have had a hard time
explaining to people who I know in Scouting and attend ODU (or who have
kids who do) that we are not a Scout Troop or anything else to the like.
My only question is, will the Scout Oath and Law be removed from the
Pledging Manual (or did I overlook that)? As for the debate whether the
National President should write amendments, have you ever thought of
something as a chairman of a committee and said "I will entertain a
motion"? It is the same thing.
