The study of 2,000 women age 65 and older at earlier stages of bone loss a=
condition known as osteopenia found the drug zoledronate reduced by about=
one-third the risk they would suffer a break

The results indicate that doctors should consider millions of additional wo=
men as candidates for the treatment which is now only routinely recommended=
for women whose bones have thinned so much that they have been formally di=
agnosed with osteoporosis ASBMR says a treatment with zoledronate costs bet=
