The agony - I would be at work, playing with my kids, cooking, reading, working and all I could hear was a loud ringing sound

With the new Pixel Stand, Google is also solving one of the biggest issues with wireless charging: making your phone useful while its getting juiced up. Normally your phone is left lying flat and useless on charging pads. The Stand basically turns the Pixel 3 and 3 XL into mini smart displays, giving you easy access to the Google Assistant, your calendar and emails. With the new Home app, the phones can also serve as control pads for all of your smart gadgets, allowing you to quickly turn off the lights or change your homes temperature. And, like the Home Hub, it can also serve up your Google Photo albums, as well as show you whos at the front door when they ring your Nest Hello video doorbell.
Google followed in Amazons footsteps when it debuted its Home smart speaker and the Google Assistant two years ago. Sure, it wasnt exactly an original move, but it made sense. And Google also had plenty of advantages over Amazon: Its virtual assistant sits at the core of Android; its not just trapped in an app unless youre on iOS. Plus its known for its AI and data expertise. Even though we werent very impressed with Nests IQ camera, its still an intriguing attempt at implementing facial recognition in a consumer device. If anyone was going to give Amazons ecosystem a run for its money, it was Google.
You probably didnt have a hankering to build Minecraft worlds on your Apple TV, and Microsoft has quietly acknowledged that reality. The company recently started notifying players that it had stopped updating and supporting the Apple TV version of the game on September 24th in order to reallocate resources to the platforms that our players use the most. To phrase it differently, there werent enough people playing to justify the investment. The game will continue to work, including Marketplace purchases, but you wont see new features.
