After spending the last hour wading through the email accumulated over the past
18 hours, it's appropriate for me to speak here as one of the list admins.
1.) If you know someone who has unsubscribed himself over the past 18 hours,
please tell him to come back. Flame War is only Temporary, mit-talk is Forever.
If you truly cares about what happens at MIT, you should sit through any flame
war that might come along, and stay subscribed.
2.) I want to congratulate everyone who has stayed over the past few days. At
last count, there are 312 of you. This is the first major flame war on mit-talk
that has nothing whatsoever to do with MIT, since its inception 3 years ago.
And almost everyone has stayed on. This bodes well for our future.
3.) Several list admins will be graduating this and the next year. In the
interest of continuity, I believe there should continue to be multiple list
admins. Therefore, if you are an underclassman and are interested in
administering this list, please email talk-request
4.) If you guys want to continue discussing religion, theism, atheism,
agnosticism, or whatever, please subscribe to mitaah-discussion. They just
finished a discussion on just these topics.
So that was that,
B, crackpot and defender of the status quo
ps: I am an Army cadet. And despite many assertions to the contrary, I am not a
fascist. [otherwise, the flame war wouldn't have happened.] However, if you
would like to have some more fascism in your life, feel free to give me a call.
I'll see what I can do. x5-1756
