new details about the adviser's death Sunday, saying he was killed during
the fighting in Kunar province.The two-day operation was launched Friday
after a tip that dozens of Taliban were concentrated in an area
in the Shigal district, Wasify said.Afghanistan's Interior Ministry said
six Taliban militants were killed in the operation in Sano Dara Sheltan
village, including two senior commanders identified as Ali Khan and Gul
Raof, the main planner and organizer of attacks in the area.Wasify initially
put the casualty toll at 11 Taliban militants killed, and four Afghan
security forces, six civilians and 10 Taliban militants wounded. But he

Kerry mourned the death of the foreign service officer killed in the
bombing -- the first death of an American diplomat on the job

native of Illinois, a "grim reminder" of the danger facing American foreign
service workers serving overseas.

<p style="font-size:xx-small;">PROVIDENCE, R.I. Rhode Island's tallest building will soon be its most
visible symbol of the state's long economic decline.The 26-story Art Deco-style
building is losing its sole tenant this month. No one is moving
in.The building is the most distinctive feature on the Providence skyline,
and it will no longer be fully illuminated at night, if at
all.It's a blow for the state, which had 9.4 percent unemployment in
February and has had one of the worst jobless rates in the
nation for years.One real estate expert at Harvard Business School says
the Superman building will become "the ultimate urban pothole."

official acknowledged Sunday that President Obama knew some of his gun-control
initiatives would likely be rejected but defended his efforts and called
on Congress to do the right thing.The president pushed very hard, White
House adviser Dan Pfeiffer said on Fox News Sunday. We knew all
of the (proposals) would not pass right away.With a proposed ban on
semi-automatic weapons and high-capacity gun magazines off the table for
now, Obama appears to be focusing his efforts, including the garnering of
public support, on getting Congress to agree to universal background checks
for gun buyers.Pfeiffer said the president has marshaled people to his side
and polls show a large majority of the public supports background checks.You
