A Texas restaurant sparked a heaping dish of controversy this weekend for
posting a sign on its marquee making fun of domestic violence.Roots Bistro,
an organic, vegetarian-friendly restaurant in Houston, put up a sign outside
the restaurant Saturday that read: "Beer should be like violence: domestic."According
the the Houston Chronicle the sign had been up for only 10
minutes, yet it quickly drew criticism on social media sites like Facebook
and Twitter as passersby who took pictures of the sign and posted
pictures on the Internet. (See an image of the sign.)One user, Amanda
Nash wrote on Roots Bistro's Facebook, "Was really disappointed when I saw
this...domestic violence is not a joke."Manager Kenneth Choateexplained
that the saying was taken off the Internet by an employee who
had seen it on an another business marquee, the Chronicle reported."Everyone
makes mistakes," said Choate. "We completely deserved the backlash, and
I can't be mad at anyone but myself," he told the Houston
Press.But in another lapse of judgment, the restaurant took down the offensive
sign and put up another sign that read: "Seriously, focus your energy
on equal rights."That sparked even more anger.One used, named Allison Marek
wrote:I'm MOST upset about the second sign that made light of the
damage the first sign did. Ya'll are like a little kid that

President Obama said Monday that officials do not know who is behind
the attack on the Boston Marathon, but vowed that those responsible will
"feel the full weight of justice."The president assured that the administration
is mobilizing its "full resources" to help investigate and provide security."The
American people will say a prayer for Boston tonight," Obama said.The president
addressed the nation from the White House briefing room just hours after
the explosion.Officials tell Fox News that Obama has been in touch with
Massachusetts officials regarding the fatal attack and has directed his
administration to provide "whatever assistance is necessary."Reflecting
the very preliminary stage of the investigation, Obama said authorities
do not know who was behind the explosion."We still do not know
who did this or why, and people shouldn't jump to conclusions before
we have all the facts," he said. "But make no mistake, we
will get to the bottom of this. ... We will find out
who did this, and we will hold them accountable."A White House official
said the president called Boston Mayor Tom Menino and Massachusetts Gov.
Deval Patrick earlier Monday to "express his concern for those who were
injured and to make clear that his administration is ready to provide

the crowded finish line at the Boston Marathon, are still emerging. Boston
police say at least two are dead and 23 injured.Authorities were guarding
a person of interest at a local hospital, sources told FoxNews.com. The
person, who sources said is 20 years old, had severe burns, but
authorities had not determined whether the person is a victim or a
suspected perpetrator.The Boston police commissioner claimed no "suspect"
is currently in custody.Attorney General Eric Holder has also spoken with

to be deployed, a spokesperson said.Vice President Biden, during a conference
call on gun violence, said "our prayers are with those people in

with the news out of Boston today."

report -- subtitled "How Assistant Attorney General Thomas Perez manipulated
Justice and Ignored Rule of Law" -- was a joint effort by
minority leaders of the Senate Judiciary Committee and the Republican-led
House's Judiciary and Oversight and Government Reform committees."The facts
surrounding this quid pro quo show that Perez may have exceeded the
scope of the ethics and professional-responsibility opinions he received
from the department and thereby violated his duties of loyalty and confidentiality
to the United States. Perez also misled senior Justice Department officials
about the quid pro quo," the report states.But congressional Democrats put
out a statement and memo of their own late Sunday refuting the
details.The statement said the "overwhelming evidence" indicates Perez and
others "acted professionally to advance the interests of civil rights and
effectively combat the scourge of discrimination in housing." They said
the decision not to intervene in the suit against St. Paul was
based on expert recommendations."Instead of identifying inappropriate conduct
by Mr. Perez, it appears that the accusations against him are part
of a broader political campaign to undermine the legal safeguards against
discrimination that Mr. Perez was protecting," they said.
