Most of the old interior walls in the main buildings are plaster-coated
terracotta blocks, or a similar material, which tend to shatter when cut
into, rather than leave a clean edge. That makes it a pain to, for example,
add a new door or window to an old wall without totally destroying the wall.
Unless the Dollar Bill wall was installed in a later renovation (post, say,
1935), which is unlikely IMHO, it would be really hard to remove and
transport intact.
Ok, there's a factoid which will hopefully become irrelvant when the
decision is made to leave this important MIT landmark in place.
