o come. It's
all so surreal," said neighbor Donna Messano Metz, who had searched for
her repeatedly. "It's awful."She said she had searched as recently as a
month ago, and that an earlier search had taken volunteers to within
a few miles of where the remains were found. The case had stunned
a community of 43,000 residents where violent crime is rare. There were
vigils, fundraising events for search costs and billboards, and fliers with
her image were in businesses around southwest Ohio. Numerous tributes and
condolences were posted, after the news of the remains circulated on a
Facebook page called "Missing! Bring Katelyn Markham Home."She was last
seen by her fiance late Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011. He said she
then sent him a text message not long after he left her
home. Carter called police that Sunday evening. He said that she hadn't
responded to text messages, and that he became alarmed when he went
to her home to find her car and nearly all her belongings
still there. She was only weeks away from earning her bachelor's degree from
an art college. She and Carter had known each other for years
and had said they planned to move to Colorado and get married
later.Carter and her father said repeatedly that that it would be out
of character for her to leave town without contacting anyone. She worked
two jobs besides doing art work, and police concluded that she was
a hard-working, wholesome young woman who appeared to have been a victim

said he "encouraged" him to move on
export. He said Netanyahu was receptive but gave no time frame. The Tamar
field was discovered in 2009 and holds an estimated 8.5 trillion cubic
feet of gas. Leviathan, found in 2010, boasts an estimated 16 to
18 trillion cubic feet and is expected to go online in 2016.
Around that time, Israel is expected to begin exporting.Israel has yet to
adopt an export policy for its natural gas reserves. A 2012 inter-ministerial
report concluded that Israel should preserve enough natural gas for itself
for 25 years, leaving about half of its estimated reserves for potential
export. The discoveries are minimal compared to gas giants Russia, Qatar
or Iran but the country's proximity to Middle Eastern and European markets
could make it an important regional player. The consortium drilling off Israel's
coast has been pushing for Israel to adopt the recommendations. They say
until there is a decision, they are not able to move forward
on financing the field's development, building infrastructure to transport
the gas or securing global markets. There have been calls from some in
Israel to minimize gas available for exports in order to ensure domestic
supply.

<p style="font-size:xx-small;">There is a whole new sort of group of individuals now who
I dont know what the numbers are that never hunt
at all. But they own guns for one of two reasons, self-protection
or they just like the feel of that AR-15 at the range.
They like the way it feels.-- Vice President Joe Biden on MSNBC
discussing his call for gun control measures. How did legislation intended
to honor victims of a school shooting become legislation that would have
done nothing to prevent that school shooting?Special interest groups, left
and right, bear considerable blame. So do the realities of 2014 electoral
politics. A Senate with badly atrophied legislative muscles doesnt help.
Neither does it help to have a president both impatient and disengaged
from the lawmaking process. But the chief failing on legislation to prevent
other mass killings like the one in Newtown Conn., is a failure
of imagination.Washington is not a very imaginative place, but few failures
of creative thinking rank with what weve seen here in response to
the December massacre that left 26 dead.Consider the journey of Sen. Joe
Manchin, D-W.Va., who was the first NRA-backed Senate member to open the
door to firearms legislation. Manchin has been wrongly criticized for suggesting
openness to banning some guns and then retreating. What Manchin did was
suggest that he was willing to discuss gun control as part of
a larger conversation that included mental health, the glorification of
violence i
rsation about how to get China to
join the United States in putting pressure on Pyongyang, according to a
senior administration official who was present. The debate encapsulates
America's struggle to come up with a strategy based on
sticks, carrots or a combination of both to convince
China to police its own backyard. As Kerry heads to East Asia for
his first time as America's top diplomat, some progress has been made
in convincing Beijing, North Korea's biggest benefactor, to start getting
tough with its neighbor. The question is whether it will make a
difference.North Korea's government agency said Thursday that it has "powerful
striking means" on standby for a launch, amid speculation in Seoul and
Washington that North Korea will test-fire a mid-range missile designed
to reach the U.S. territory of Guam in the Pacific Ocean. It
was the latest warning from the North, which launched a long-range rocket
in December and conducted an underground nuclear test in February. For years,
Washington has been putting its hopes in Beijing to rein in the
provocative behavior and combative rhetoric from North Korea. China has
more leverage over the North than any other country, having massively boosted
trade ties with the isolated regime in recent years and maintaining close
military relations. But the U.S. has been frustrated by the reaction from
a government that in many ways has different priorities. China, analysts
and officials often say, f
