be tried in adult court.Prosecutor Jason Hicks called the boys "thugs" in

when he pulled the trigger on a .22 caliber revolver and shot
Lane once in the back. Hicks said Jones was driving the vehicle
and Edwards was in the passenger seat.Edwards has had run-ins with the
law previously and had been in court Friday, the day of the
killing, to sign documents related to his juvenile probation."I believe
this man is a threat to the community and should not be
let out," Hicks said as he requested no bond for Edwards. "He
thinks it's all a joke."The 17-year-old wept in court after he tried
to speak and was cut off by the judge."I'm appalled," Hicks said
after the hearing. "This is not supposed to happen in this community."Police
Chief Dan Ford said Lane appeared to have been chosen at random,
saying in a variety of media interviews since Friday's killing that one
suspect told officers that he and other boys were bored and that
they followed Lane and killed him for "the fun of it."A woman
tried CPR and paramedics arrived on scene, but Lane was pronounced dead
an hour later."He went by a residence where these three boys were,

alerted officers to something in Hill's trunk and investigators believe
he may have been carrying explosives, Alexander said. Officials cut a hole
in a fence to make sure students running from the building could
get even farther away to a nearby street, he said.Police had strung
yellow tape up blocking intersections near the school while children waited
to be taken to Wal-Mart where hundreds of people were waiting. The
crowd waved from behind yellow police tape as buses packed with children
started arriving along the road in front of them at the store.
The smiling children waved back.Regional superintendent Rachel Zeigler used
a megaphone to say children were on the buses by grade level
and that each bus would also be carrying an administrator, a teacher
and a Georgia Bureau of Investigation officer. Relatives had to show ID,

Office says journalist Michael Hastings, who won fame writing the Rolling
Stone article that ended General Stanley McChrystal's career, had drugs
including amphetamines and marijuana in his system when he was killed in
a fiery car crash in June.However, coroner's investigators said the drugs
likely did not contribute to the crash, which they classified as an
accident. Toxicology results showed small amounts of amphetamine in Hastings'
blood, which indicated he had possibly taken methamphetamine many hours
before his death. Traces of marijuana were also present, indicating he'd
taken it hours earlier.Hastings cause of death was massive blunt force trauma,
and the coroner determined he likely lost consciousness upon impact and
died within seconds.The autopsy report came two months after Hastings' death
on a deserted Los Angeles street fueled conspiracy theories and prompted
the FBI to release an unusual statement that it had not been
investigating him.Hastings died when his Mercedes, traveling at a high rate
of speed, crossed into the median on Highland Avenue in Hollywood and
struck a tree on June 18. The car burst into flames and
Hastings' body was charred to the point that it took several days
to positively identify him.The report states that Hastings had been "sober"
for 14 years, but
