Office says journalist Michael Hastings, who won fame writing the Rolling
Stone article that ended General Stanley McChrystal's career, had drugs
including amphetamines and marijuana in his system when he was killed in
a fiery car crash in June.However, coroner's investigators said the drugs
likely did not contribute to the crash, which they classified as an
accident. Toxicology results showed small amounts of amphetamine in Hastings'
blood, which indicated he had possibly taken methamphetamine many hours
before his death. Traces of marijuana were also present, indicating he'd
taken it hours earlier.Hastings cause of death was massive blunt force trauma,
and the coroner determined he likely lost consciousness upon impact and
died within seconds.The autopsy report came two months after Hastings' death
on a deserted Los Angeles street fueled conspiracy theories and prompted
the FBI to release an unusual statement that it had not been
investigating him.Hastings died when his Mercedes, traveling at a high rate
of speed, crossed into the median on Highland Avenue in Hollywood and
struck a tree on June 18. The car burst into flames and
Hastings' body was charred to the point that it took several days
to positively identify him.The report states that Hastings had been "sober"
for 14 years, but

seem to think so. Theyve announced they wont reinstate Denver Boone, who
was retired in 1998 as mascot for the UD Pioneers, despite calls
to bring him back.Boone originally had been replaced by a red-tailed hawk
named Ruckus but the bird never soared high with the student body
and was scrapped in 2007, leaving the school without a mascot. Fast
forward and the school decided to put together a committee last spring
to determine the new mascot, but Boone was not even considered.Boone was
a polarizing figure that did not reflect the growing diversity of the
UD community, but rather was an image that many women, persons of
color, international students and faculty members found difficult to relate
to as defining the pioneering spirit, Chancellor Robert Coombe said in a
March letter to the school community.University officials also claim that
Boone was not up for consideration because of a consensus by the
student body that it wanted an entirely new mascot despite numerous
Facebook postings to the contrary.It was really about moving forward, Theresa
Mueller, a spokeswoman for the University of Denver, told FoxNews.com. The
students wanted a new mascot and didnt want to look towards the
past.Mueller added that they intend togi

discovered letters from Hannah and a handwritten note, without elaborating
on the contents.Search warrants unsealed last week said Hannah was picked
up from a cheerleading practice at 4 p.m. on Aug. 4, but
Caldwell said the practice was a day earlier.Firefighters found the body
of Christina Anderson, 44, when they extinguished flames at DiMaggio's home
in Boulevard, a tiny town about 65 miles east of San Diego
on the U.S.-Mexico border. A search warrant says she was found near
a crowbar and what appeared to be blood next to her head.The
San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office said she died of a blunt
head injury, without elaborating on the nature of the wound or the
circumstances of her death in a posting to its website. The manner
of death is listed as homicide.Investigators found 8-year-old Ethan Anderson's
body as they sifted through rubble. Authorities identified his remains several
days later by extracting DNA from his bone marrow.The medical examiner's
office said Tuesday that the cause and manner of the boy's death
remained under investigation.Hannah Anderson says she didn't learn her mother
and brother died until after she was rescued. She said on a
social media site last week that she was "on the road to
Idaho" when the fire ignited."He had set to wear (sic) it would
catch on fire at a certain time," she wrote.A memorial service is
