In my experience, absent everything else the default is ten hours. I 
agree that for NIM, krb5.ini should at least stand betw the Windows 
registry and the ultimate fall-back position of 10 hrs.

Is this on anyone's to-fix list?

(Also glad to learn I'm not hallucinating.)
