As far as I know, OV was not "asked" to donate code to MIT. That is,
OV, rather than MIT, initiated the dealings between OV and MIT that led
to the donation of this code.
Paul, the structure of what you wrote above seems to imply that you
might actually already know this, but it seems somewhat ambiguous, so I
thought I should point it out.
(Remember, I don't speak for OV. Yes, I realize that on the Net, this
is supposed to be assumed, but in threads like this, it's easy to
forget it.)
