Design issues such as these are often made much easier by first
answering questions like: What are the prioritized requirements of the
krb5 build system? What are the desireable features? What resources
are available?
Many people on this list (myself included) has expressed opinions
about what the krb5 build system should look like, and sometimes have
asserted various requirements etc. in an ad hoc fashion, but so far I
do not believe any clearly written answers to these questions exist.
I suggest that any decision we make regarding the build system will be
wrong and unsatisfactory until we complete this necessary first step.
