Declan's _Netly News_ column (by the way, I think the "creepy snooping
through peepholes" language is entirely appropriate at this stage of
the game) had a link to an article on the FBI which I hadn't seen when
it was published. Skip the opening discussion of comparative
prosecution patterns if you want, but read the part on the FBI's
data-gathering, eavesdropping, and black-bag activities. It sheds
some light on why the FBI wanted such an Orwellian wiretap capacity in
Digital Telephony.
