Following on from Alan Olsen's thoughts about RSA, Elliptical Curve, and marketing, did anyone else note the way that Certicom announced that its EC-based Security Builder toolkit had been "certified" by NCSA?
According to Certicom this "further validates Security Builder's strength and effectiveness in a competitive marketplace. The cryptography product certification process developed by NCSA is based on information and guidelines
from...a group [that includes]... RSA..."
Does this sound like Certicom is saying EC meets RSA standards? Yet no RSA products were apparently certified. Can we conclude anything useful from all this?
