Actually, you need to take the batteries out. My previous mobile (a
Nokia 2100) audibly interfered with land lines (or perhaps my headset),
and I have caught it registering itself when it is nominally off. I
haven't noticed my current phone (a StarTAC [which I would happily
exchange for a very light 2100]) doing it, but I haven't checked...
