Please write a letter to Newsweek in response to their article on cyber
attacks in their latest print edition of their magazine.

They are making the same mistake almost everyone in the mainstream media
is making: Just repeating verbatim what "government sources" are
feeding them.

There was not a shred of criticism hinting at what >20 years of
misguided export restrictions on encryption and deliberate weakening of
US encryption products has cost the Internet, and the "infrastructure",
in terms of self-protection.

The news media has their own constraints, so please do not frame it in
terms of their own faults. At this point in time, a serious but patient
education of the entire news media (not just the small, technically
literate pockets of reporters) is far more effective than a few
inflammatory "Jack-Boot" editorials.

Also, the more responses the better, so please send in your responses.
Use corporate letterhead if appropriate. But the most important point
is to write and express your objective opinion!

Ern
