Is there any chance someone on this list and in the Ottawa area
could attend this press conference?
... and perhaps ask questions and report back to the rest of us ??
Please let me know ASAP.

Date: 10/1/98 Ottawa, Ontario
OTTAWA, September 30, 1998 -- During a National Press Club Breakfast,
John Manley, Minister of Industry, will outline Canada's cryptography
policy. Time will be allotted for questions and answers following
the Minister's opening remarks.
This policy is a key element of the Canadian Electronic Commerce Strategy
announced by the Prime Minister on September 22, 1998.
For electronic commerce to flourish in Canada, businesses and consumers
require assurances of trust, security, and privacy to make frequent
on-line transactions. Cryptography is a set of technologies
that serves to safeguard information, protect communications,
and authenticate parties to transactions made on computer systems
and networks such as the Internet.
