Subject: News about Sun and Elvis+
At the end of a recent forum on US-China relations, Laura D'Andrea
Tyson commented on the Sun arrangements. Perhaps someone could get
transcripts, though I'm not sure how. Does CSPAN produce
transcripts? The gist of her remarks were that:
1. The US government wants US companies to export breakable
for reasons of national security
2. A major computer vendor has chosen to flout these requests
by allying itself with a Russian firm.
3. Strong crypto is available from a variety of other countries.
Therefore, in the interests of national security, we must ensure that
all available crypto from any country is breakable.
