brother jones,
unless ive misinterpreted your reasoning for your modest
proposition, i believe your heart is in the right place
regarding acknowledgement of the history of our founding.
but your proposed way of going about it comes off to me
as being kind of silly and perhaps unnecessary. this is
not a flame, it is my opinion. following is my reasoning.
take a look at some of the mascots we embrace. notice exactly
what our colors are. and one of our creeds (in particular,
the twelve-point one) should be quite a familiar one to those
who were in a different organization, particularly the one
you attempt to address. you say that this part of our history
is lost. is it truly? looking at some of the above symbols
of our fraternity, which have not been amended, i would not
say this is so.
also, unless this organization has greek roots, it seems a
bit senseless to me to try to represent it with greek letters.
and given the name of the organization, its a pretty safe bet
that its not a greek one, and it shouldnt be made to look that
way, imho. why not represent it with its actual letters if you
so wish? wouldnt that be more meaningful and true to that part
of our history?
the above is the opinion of the undersigned, and the undersigned
only.
