This is also an introduction to the survey on the SOC list, since
some on there might not be on APO-L.
In case you just joined us, here is what is going on. I am
attempting to compile a list of legacies amongst the Brotherhood on both of
the lists. For any unwashed, a legacy results when a child is a member of
the same Greek organization that a parent was a member of. Obviously in
most Greeks, it is a father/son, mother/daughter thing. In APO, the gender
combinations could conceivably be quite mixed. Here are the guidelines(with
some additional ones marked with a (*):
1. Father or mother an Active, Associate(for pre-1976 female Brothers--it
could happen), Advisory, Honorary, *Little Sister, or *Sweetheart member of
APO. Any other membership types that were acknowledged by National are also
acceptable. Other membership types on the Chapter level...write me.
2. Maternal grandfather is acceptable if mother did not have the
opportunity to be in APO. Please let me know if this is the case, though.
3. I would prefer to have names of the ancestors, but if you feel this is
an invasion of privacy, you are not required to submit it.
4. Initiate Chapter and year, if you can find the information.
5. Any interesting stories about your legacy that would be appropriate for
a possible submission to T&T(I have considered proposing this publication to
National). If you submit a story, but prefer it not be published, let me
know.
6. Sorry, I can not(unless there is a deluge)accept uncles, aunts, or
cousins, since this violates the traditional(there's that word again...)defin-
ition of a legacy. No answers have been discarded yet, so these cases may get
their own category if enough people respond(and I get bribed enough ;-{) ).
7. Tentative deadline is 12:00am, April 1, 1995. This date may get moved
back to a later one as people join the list.
Due to the possibility of a flame war, I am withdrawing the inquiry about
whether a legacy is given any consideration in rushing, bid votes,
membership votes, etc., by Chapters. So please let this subject drop before
it becomes another TS or Sweetheart issue.
If anybody can think of any other possibilites I may have overlooked, please
let me know. I have enjoyed the submissions so far, and I look forward to
future ones that I may get(PLEASE!!!!! :-{) ).
