This is not the _current_ rage.  This has been the rage since
the group was formed.  (at least 4 years )  :)

I for one would be opposed to this.  A mailing list is somewhat
more restricted than a newsgroup.  Although anyone may subscribe,
it takes an effort. A newsgroup, however, can be browsed through
without subscribing.  This means that we would have to be twice
as careful about what was said, and the impressions that we
made.

There is a newsgroup specifically about this, though I can't
remember the name.
