Well, I'm risking my friendship with MuBear by doing this, but it
has to be done...
Evicently the conference lost money... bigtime, on the order
of $9/person who attended... I'm not sure of the details, but I do
know that the conference chair is thining seriously of absorbing
the entirety of the loss, and is refusing to let anyone help him...
So here's my idea... Those who can spare a few $s (even one or
two can't hurt....) get a postal money order (from any US post office
for $.75) put no return address on it and make it out to John Grossi
C/O OI Chapter at WPI... Someone from WPI post an address...
Postal money orders are far better than checks since they are
already paid for, they are like cash... But a bit safer to mail.
So he can;t just tare them up... And with no return addresses, he's
stuck with them...
John ran a great conference!!!! We all know that! But budgets
can be tricky things... overuns because of almost anything can
crop up herre and there... 88/89 folks know this well, since
Utica went through this same mess 2 years ago...
I'm going to go off now and find my industrial strenght
cub, cuz Im sure John will try to squash my nuts into oblivion for
this...
Sorry John, but some of us love you too much to let you take this
medicine alone, no matter what you say.
