How about those three special words that we learn during initiation?
Between that and the handshake, you should be able to know a brother. In
some places, when I have met a brother I didn't know, he would approach
me, give me the handshake (real close between our bodies so nobody else
would see it) say "Leadership, Friendship, Service" into my ear, and then
I would respond in a way that only a brother would know.
By the way, before anybody thinks about flaming me for giving away
fraternity secrets, reread my message and you'll see that everything that
I have mentioned is common knowledge and I haven't said anything secret.
