It has come to my attention that several people were upset by my previous
comments on this board. Comments have ranged between "I agree
completely" to "your comments criticised not only (Sac State) but the
entire Section 4" or something to that effect.
Look, guys. I was trying to make a point, but perhaps I wasn't doing it
very well. I was trying to not cast blame, but perhaps my disclaimer
wasn't enough. So let's try this:
I AM NOT TRYING TO SAY THAT ANYONE IS AT FAULT FOR THE FACT THAT THE
MEMBERS OF ALPHA GAMMA NU WHO ATTENDED SECTION 4 SECTIONALS LAST WEEKEND
WERE UNCOMFORTABLE WITH THE "AFTER HOURS" NON-OFFICIAL FUNCTION.
All I was trying to argue was that there were no "unofficial" functions
which didn't revolve around alcohol. I feel that there should ALWAYS be
such options, no matter what the event. I do NOT, repeat do NOT think
that Sac State did a poor job at Sectionals. Rather, I think that
everyone had a really good time and thoroughly enjoyed the sectionals
events. People were friendly, helpful, and fun. I have no quarrel with
ANYONE. I just wanted to mention that I think that OFTEN
chapters/individuals who don't drink much get overlooked in the greater
scheme of things. This is a NATIONAL issue, not a local one.
One of the people who received my letter went on to say that she believed
that I should have gone to individuals in Section 4 before going on
APO-L. Perhaps this is true, but since I wasn't trying to chastise
anyone for a job poorly done, I saw little reason to proceed that way.
AARGH! I just wanted to make a point which I thought needed addressing,
not to tell anyone else in my section where to go. I love you all, so
please don't feel that I was casting aspersions and criticizing you.
I hope this makes things a little more clear. I apologize for any
misconceptions which might have resulted from my previous message and
hope that this is more complete.
WHEW!
