Hi all,
In 1985 when I pledged, I was "excursioned" to various places, some further away
than others, all voluntarily (departure and return times had to be discussed and
agreed upon in advance), many involving parental home cooking. In 1987, as an
active with a car, I "excursioned" some lucky pledges to my folks (if you've
ever eaten my mom's cooking, you'll understand why I call them lucky).
Brothers could "excursion" pledges or vice versa - the excursionee(s) had to be
willing, and the excursioner(s) had to provide all sustenance and any necessary
sleeping arrangements. It was much fun, especially when the excursion was to
other chapters or to the parents of the excursioners.
Glad to see that the spirit lives on. Happy travels, and be careful out there!
(for those of who don't remember, that's a quote from Hill Street Blues - or am
I dating myself again? sigh...)
