Hmm, my understanding of what a neophyte is goes like this:
After member education is completed and the pledge passes the final
pledge review (or whatever marks the acceptance of the pledge into
the Brotherhood), and until the actual initiation ceremony and the
taking of the Oath, the person is a neophyte. We used to have
final pledge review at the last chapter meeting before initiation,
with initiation taking place about a week later. During the time
in between, those who completed the final pledge review and were
accepted became neophytes (and we had to be very careful not to
call them pledges:).
Once the initiation takes place, of course, the neophytes become
Brothers.
Nathan
