Hey, Brothers:
Doesn't it ever stop? I can seldom go to Black Greek parties and repre-
sent Alpha Phi Omega without getting into some sort of argument with a Black GLO
member. Just this past Friday I went to an off-campus A-Phi-A party and encoun-
tered some Q-Psi-Phi neos who asked me the basic questions about A-Phi-O. No
problem there. There wasn't much issue about the multi-racial composition about
our fraternity. The kicker was when I mentioned the fraternity included men and
women (Note: I rarely volunteer telling this particular information UNLESS I am
asked about it in which I will tell the entire truth, no holds barred. The
reason is not because I am ashamed there is women in the organization, but to
avoid endless, inconclusive, and stressful debates such as this one).
Well, after I said that, the fireworks went off. I had to explain that
we was still a fraternity to this chunky Q from out-of-state who was convinced
that we was not a fraternity, but a multi-cultural social ORGANIZATION (how he
figured we was a social whatever is beyond me, but he did not get it from me).
But he said that we could not be a fraternity with women (I later looked up
fraternity in the Random House dictionary and definition #1 confirms his argu-
ment and definition #2 confirms my (our) argument). But he said something that
stunned me and that was, "How can you have a p***y and be a man?" I zapped him
by saying, "I dunno. I don't watch Geraldo on TV".
Needless to say, we silently agreed to disagree on that topic. But I
would love to school the Black Greeks at O.S.U. to let them know what we're
really all about rather than wallow in ignorance and heresay. What do you th
think?
