In regards to the formation of the Circle K and the infighting with the
Community Service Center. First of all, I think it was in very poor
taste and bad manners to try and cancel put your number. The solution to
your problem is to be proactive. I would suggest trying to form a
cooalition of service organizations on campus. Here at the University of
Texas at San Antonio, I founded the APO chapter in 1991. In 1993 I was
invited to help found the "Official" campus volunteer group, VOICES
(Volunteer Organization Involving Community Education & Service). We
work with each other and other groups to bring service to the whole
community. There is way to much need in any community to fight between
each other. I would suggest you offer what assistance you can to the
Circle K group and be friends with them. This would help short circuit
the back stabber. Also, it shows the maturity of the APO chapter willing
to get along for the big picture. I would even suggest a humoungous (SP)
type service project and have all the groups plan and implement it. Of
course in a perfect world you would not need any of this stuff, but I
hope that it has been helpful.

Yours in Service

Tom Brown
